How To Track Website Traffic

If you are an Internet marketer, odds are sooner or later you will have websites – many of them.  Understanding your website traffic is imperative to your success.  I am going to tell you how to monitor your website traffic for free.

First, lets briefly go over why you would want to monitor your website traffic.  The most basic statistic is visitors.  You can see if your visitor count is growing or shrinking.  This gives you a clue to what you need to do.  Statistics also give you the source of your traffic and other relevant demographic information.  You can also see where your traffic is coming from and what keywords people are using to find you (for organic traffic).

This information is hugely beneficial and guides your efforts to increase traffic or to hone your content to the traffic you are getting.

There are many services that provide detailed statistics regarding your website, many of which are services for a fee.  I am going to suggest you start with Google Analytics.  Google Analytics is a free service and provides more than just the basics.  It is a great service and it is easy to implement.  Just go to

And yes, you can add your Google Analytics code to your WordPress blog.  Some Wordoress themes have a place to add the analytics code in the settings, but most do not.  You can add the code using the editor.
